UC Irvine's Social Policy and Public Service program offers an interdisciplinary curriculum that encompasses applied research on issues of education, health, and policy. The focus of the program is aimed to help students translate their research into policy directives and to provide majors the opportunity to engage in public service at local agencies addressing real-world policy issues. Shaping student leaders to understand the value of diversity, social justice, and equity, the curriculum facilitates academic projects that address important social issues.

The mission of the program is to develop an awareness and understanding of the relationship between governance, social policy, and public service while instilling the value, appreciation and ethical responsibility of community investment, action research, and civic engagement.
